The Vessel Traffic Service (VTS) system is understood as the activities of monitoring and assisting the movement of vessels to enhance the efficiency and safety of port operations. The purpose of maritime traffic services is to improve maritime safety and efficiency, ensure the safety of lives at sea, and protect the marine environment.Hệ thống quản lý giao thông hàng hải (VTS) được hiểu là các hoạt động giám sát và trợ giúp hoạt động giao thông của các tàu thuyền nhằm nâng cao hiệu quả, an toàn của việc khai thác cảng biển. Mục đích của dịch vụ giao thông hàng hải là nâng cao an toàn và hiệu quả của hoạt động hàng hải, an toàn sinh mạng trên biển, bảo vệ môi trường biển.
The structure of the VTS system basically consists of three parts:
· Sensor Site: This part includes the positions of sensors such as radar and cameras, carefully selected to maximize the system’s effectiveness. The sensors are divided into two sections: the site outside the field (second sensor site) and the equipment room (main sensor site). The external devices are connected to the internal ones via LAN networks, using MW radio frequency, ADSL transmission lines, etc.
· VTS Operator Console: The VTS control operation relies on displays of the parameters of vessels detected by the system on electronic navigational charts, voice communications via information channels, and on CCTV screens.
· VTMS Server: This is the control unit of the system and acts as the brain of the VTS. Signals are transmitted to the centers through processing software devices, and target signals are displayed on control screens for supervisors and operators to continuously monitor targets in the area. This provides information and issues alerts, recommendations, coordination, and navigational guidance for vessels.
The Maritime Traffic Monitoring and Coordination System (VTS) provides significant benefits in ensuring maritime safety, effectively supporting search and rescue operations, and helping to save time and costs in organizing and coordinating with vessel traffic management units.
As the main partner of Vissim – Norway in Vietnam, we provide solutions for maritime vessel monitoring and coordination systems in the port area according to international standards. The system includes the following main modules:
- · VTMS Application Module: This module manages and processes data generated from sensors such as radar, AIS, and cameras. The data is further processed in central servers and presented visually in the VTMS GUI on operational stations.
- · VHF Communication Module: This module controls all radios in the system and allows for direct calling from the VTMS GUI operation stations.
- · Surveillance Camera Module: This module controls the installed cameras and allows for direct control from the VTMS GUI, including automatic tracking capabilities.
